X-rays

X- rays are often part of the diagnostic process for clear aligner treatment. X-rays allow for a clear view of the teeth, roots and surrounding bone structure to assess overall condition of your mouth. Most commonly Panoramic/OPG x-ray and a Cephalomatric x-ray are used for invisalign clear aligner assessments.

Photographs

Photographs along with X-rays and digital scans help to design the 3D virtual plan of your teeth movements. Intra-oral and extra-oral photographs will be taken which will help us evaluate your teeth alignment, bite, midline, and to monitor your progress. Before and after comparison of your photos highlights the transformation of your smile.

Creating 3-D models

With the use of precision technology, such as intra-oral scanner like the iTero scanner or impressions, which will be digitally scanned afterwards to create a 3D image of your teeth. Your X-rays, photographs and 3D digital scans are used to provide a comprehensive picture of your dental structure.

Designing your aligners

The scanned data is uploaded Invisalign clear aligner software to generate a 3D MODEL of your teeth, which is used to plan the movements of your teeth step by step, ensuring the treatment aligns with our goals. You can see 3D animation of your treatment, which shows step by step your teeth movement.

Fitting your clear aligners

Fitting your clear aligners is an essential step in your INVISALIGN treatment. Proper fit ensures the aligners work effectively to move your teeth. You need to wear your aligner 22 hours a day for 2 weeks. Each set of clear aligners needs to be worn for 2 weeks.

Regular check-ins

Most clear aligner check- ins with your Wyndham Smile Care Dentist occur every 6-8 weeks. These regular check-ins are a crucial part of ensuring your treatment stays on track. During these appointments, we will ensure that your teeth are moving as planned on proprietary software and will provide you next sets of aligners.

Aftercare

After treatment, your teeth can shift without support because the surrounding bone and tissue need time to stabilise. Maintaining your results requires proper aftercare to ensure your teeth don’t shift back to their original position. Initially you will need to wear your retainer full time (20-22 hrs) a day for a few months. Usually after 3 months, we may advise transitioning to wearing them only at night.

Cleaning and maintenance

Clean your aligner trays/ retainers daily with soap and lukewarm water, to keep them free from bacteria and stains. AVOID using hot water, as it can warp the retainers. ALWAYS, store your clear aligner trays/retainers in their case provided to you, to prevent loss or damage.
